Select audio tracks more easily
However, most CD players don’t display track information. So, we rely on track numbers to identify songs. CD player remotes let you skip tracks by hitting a button. You’ll also find CD player remotes that have number buttons. You can use these to enter a track number. This is what you want. I would look at boomboxes. Many CD boomboxes have a remote that suits your needs. You’ll probably spend $50 to $100. Unfortunately, researching boombox remotes online isn’t easy. So, do it in person. It shouldn’t be difficult. If you really prefer an MP3 player, there is a workaround. Some Bluetooth gadgets turn an MP3 player into a remote. You connect the gadget to your MP3 player. Some connect only to an iPod using its dock connection. Others work with any MP3 player. They connect to the headphone jack. The gadgets stream audio to a receiver that connects to speakers. Ones designed for iPods may connect to the speakers’ iPod dock. Others use the speakers’ auxiliary input. You can select tracks using the MP3 player’s controls. Depending on your MP3 player, this may or may not be fast. But at least you can see what you’re selecting. To learn more about Bluetooth streaming, read my column. It covers specific gadgets that connect to MP3 players. Of course, Bluetooth streaming is a rather expensive solution. You’ll probably pay more than $100 for the Bluetooth transmitter and receiver. It also requires an MP3 player and speakers. I have plenty more tips for teachers on my site. Check them out:
• Create a Web site for your class • Get free class-management software • Put lesson plans on a DVD for parents • Office, customized for teachers WOW! EXTRA HOUR THIS WEEKEND!
• Video of the Day: When you think about racing, does your mind immediately go to airplanes? Ho-hum, you say? OK, just watch this! • Cool Site of the Day: Have you ever stood up someone for lunch? Me, too. How embarrassing! Unless you’re hopeless, this site can help you. • Digital Minute, on your radio: Digital drugs are all the rage in a certain set. That may include your teenagers. Find out what you need to know. • Free Download of the Day: I know, I know. You’re a good speller. You just have bad days. Well, don’t look like an idiot. Use this spell-checker. • Tip on the site: Twenty-four hours of video won’t fit on a DVD. But a dual-layer DVD could probably hold half of it. Hope all that video is legal! Monday’s Tip, in your e-mail: Protect a loved one with a spy cam.Kim
